Front Brake Pad Replacement

Rear Brake Pad Replacement — Wind-Back Method
The rear calipers on the 2015 Grand Cherokee use a piston that must be threaded (wound back) clockwise as it is retracted. Pushing it straight in with a C-clamp will damage the piston seal. You need a caliper wind-back tool.

- Install new rear pads and apply grease to abutments and slide pins.
- Reinstall caliper — Torque slide pin bolts to 32 ft-lbs (43 Nm).
- Reinstall wheels — Torque lug nuts to 110 ft-lbs.
- Pump brake pedal until firm before driving.
Break-In Bedding Procedure
New pads need a bedding cycle to transfer pad material evenly onto the rotor surface. Skip this and you'll have grabby, uneven braking for the first few hundred miles.
- From 35 mph, apply moderate pressure to reduce speed to 5 mph — don't stop completely.
- Repeat 8–10 times.
