How to Change Your 2022 Genesis GV80 2.5T Oil — DIY Guide

The 2022 Genesis GV80 2.5T runs the G4KH 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder — a sophisticated engine that also appears in the Hyundai Sonata N Line and Kia K5 GT-Line. Genesis dealers charge $150–$200 for this service. DIY cost is $40–$60. The G4KH is one of the more refined turbo fours on the market, and keeping it properly oiled is straightforward.

Oil note: The G4KH specifies 0W-30 full synthetic — this is less common than 0W-20 or 5W-30, and worth double-checking. Castrol Edge 0W-30, Liqui-Moly Special Tec AA 0W-30, and Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy meet Hyundai's API SP/ACEA A5 spec.

Filter note: The Hyundai 26320-2S000 is a standard spin-on filter shared across several Hyundai-Kia Group applications. It's mounted on the passenger side of the engine block.

Step-by-Step Oil Change

1. Warm the Engine

Run the GV80 5–7 minutes. The G4KH's 5.3-qt fill drains cleanly in about 8 minutes when warm.

2. Raise the Vehicle

Use ramps or a floor jack with stands under the GV80's frame jacking points. There may be a partial undertray panel to remove for drain plug access.

3. Remove the Undertray Panel (If Present)

Remove the retaining clips or bolts and set the panel aside.

4. Remove the Oil Filter

Locate the Hyundai 26320-2S000 spin-on filter on the passenger side of the engine block. Use a 65mm filter wrench to loosen counterclockwise. Have a rag ready. Unscrew fully and set aside.

5. Drain the Oil

Move to the 14mm drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan. Remove counterclockwise. Drain 8 minutes. Remove and discard the old Hyundai 21513-23001 aluminum drain plug washer.

6. Reinstall the Drain Plug

Thread a new 21513-23001 aluminum washer on the drain plug. Torque to 26 lb-ft (35 Nm). The G4KH oil pan is aluminum — use the torque wrench, don't exceed the spec.

7. Install the New Filter

Apply a thin film of fresh 0W-30 to the rubber gasket of the new 26320-2S000 filter. Thread in by hand. Tighten an additional 3/4 turn — do not use a wrench.

8. Reinstall the Undertray Panel

If removed, reinstall and secure all clips or bolts.

9. Lower the Vehicle

Safely lower the GV80.

10. Add Oil

Add 5.0 quarts of 0W-30 full synthetic. Start the engine — oil pressure light clears in 2–3 seconds. Idle 2 minutes, shut off, wait 5 minutes. Check the dipstick and add remaining ~0.3 qt. Total capacity with filter is 5.3 quarts.

11. Check for Leaks

Inspect the filter and drain plug with the engine running.

12. Reset the Service Reminder

On the 2022 Genesis GV80: Press the Menu button on the steering wheel, navigate to Vehicle → Maintenance → Oil Life Reset and confirm.

2022 Genesis GV80 G4KH Notes

  1. 0W-30 is specific: The G4KH requires 0W-30 — not 0W-20 or 5W-30. Confirm with the label on the oil filler cap before purchasing oil.
  2. G4KH shared platform with Hyundai/Kia: Parts availability is excellent and filter prices are lower than true luxury brands. The 26320-2S000 is reliable and readily available.
  3. Service intervals: For turbocharged engines doing real-world mixed driving, 5,000-mile intervals with quality 0W-30 synthetic keep the turbo and direct injection components in top shape.
