Step-by-Step Oil Change
1. Warm the Engine
Run the ProMaster for 5–7 minutes. Let it cool 10 minutes if it just finished a long run.
2. Position the Van
Jack the front end at the subframe crossmember with jack stands on the front frame rails, or use ramps for the most stable setup.
3. Locate the Oil Pan and Filter
The 18mm drain plug is at the bottom of the oil pan, driver's side. The Mopar MO-369 spin-on filter is on the front driver-side of the engine block — the transverse FWD layout means it points forward for clean removal.
4. Drain the Oil
Position your 7-quart drain pan. Loosen and remove the plug counterclockwise. Allow 10–12 minutes for a full 5.9-quart drain. Remove and discard the Mopar 68211201AA drain plug washer.
5. Remove the Old Filter
Counterclockwise with a strap wrench. The forward-facing position means less oil spill on removal.
6. Install the New Filter
Apply fresh 5W-20 to the new filter's O-ring gasket. Thread clockwise until gasket contact, then 3/4 additional turn by hand.
7. Reinstall the Drain Plug
Install the new 68211201AA washer. Torque to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm).
8. Add Oil
Pour 5.5 quarts through the oil filler cap (top of engine, front-center). Start the van — oil pressure light clears within 5 seconds. Idle 90 seconds, shut off, wait 5 minutes. Check the dipstick and top up. Full capacity with filter is 5.9 quarts.
9. Check for Leaks
Idle for 2–3 minutes and inspect the filter and drain plug.
10. Reset the Oil Life Monitor
Navigate via the steering wheel controls: Vehicle Info → Oil Life → hold OK to reset.
