Critical: The NV246 (AutoTrac) in older Silverado/Sierra trucks requires Auto-Trak II fluid — NOT standard Dexron ATF. Using the wrong fluid causes the AutoTrak clutch pack to slip and chatter in 4-Auto mode.

Step-by-Step Procedure
Step 1: Locate the Transfer Case

Step 2: Locate Fill and Drain Plugs
Transfer cases have two plugs:
