Step-by-Step Oil Change
1. Warm the Engine
Start the Venza and let the ICE run at least 5 minutes — tap the accelerator gently to ensure the gasoline engine engages. You need the ICE to run and circulate oil before draining.
2. Position the Vehicle
Park on level ground. Ramps or jack stands are recommended for comfortable underbody access.
3. Drain the Oil
Remove the oil filler cap for airflow. The 14mm drain plug is on the driver-side rear of the oil pan. Remove counterclockwise. Allow 6–7 minutes for a full drain. Pull and discard the old 90430-12031 crush washer.
4. Remove and Replace the Filter
Turn the 90915-YZZD4 spin-on filter counterclockwise to remove. Coat the new filter's gasket with fresh 0W-16. Thread clockwise until gasket contacts block, then 3/4 additional turn by hand.
5. Reinstall the Drain Plug
Install the new 90430-12031 crush washer. Torque to 27 lb-ft (36 Nm).
6. Add Oil
Pour 4.3 quarts of 0W-16 through the oil filler cap. Start the engine. Idle 90 seconds, shut off, wait 5 minutes. Check the dipstick and top up. Full capacity with filter is 4.8 quarts.
7. Reset the Maintenance Reminder
Press and hold the trip odometer reset button until the maintenance indicator resets, or navigate: Info → Maintenance → Oil Maintenance → hold OK.
Hybrid Notes
The A25A-FXS operates in Atkinson cycle mode — lower combustion pressure and less mechanical stress on the oil. Toyota's 10,000-mile recommendation applies, but for primarily short-trip driving, shorten to 5,000–7,500 miles.
