Step-by-Step Oil Change

1. Warm the Engine

Run the Jetta for 5–7 minutes. Park level and set the parking brake.

2. Access the Cartridge Filter Housing

The 06L-115-562 filter housing is on top of the engine, toward the rear, under a plastic cover. Remove the engine cover (clips only) and locate the filter cap with a 27mm hexagonal top.

3. Remove the Filter Cap and Old Element

Use your 27mm socket to loosen the cap counterclockwise. The cap doubles as the filter holder — pull it up and the old filter element comes out with it. Drain residual oil over the drain pan.

4. Replace the O-Ring and Install New Element

Remove the old filter element from the cap by pulling it off the center post. Slide the new element onto the cap post — it clicks into place. Replace the O-ring using the new one from the filter kit. Lubricate with a dab of fresh oil.

5. Reinstall the Filter Cap

Thread the cap back in clockwise. Torque to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Do not overtighten — the plastic housing threads can strip.

6. Raise the Vehicle

Use a floor jack and jack stands or ramps. Remove the undertray access panel (10mm Torx or hex bolts) to expose the drain plug.

7. Drain the Oil

Slide your drain pan under the 19mm drain plug. Remove counterclockwise. The EA211's 4.5-quart capacity drains in 6–8 minutes. Discard the old VW N-013-252-6 aluminum washer.

8. Reinstall the Drain Plug

Install the new aluminum washer. Thread the plug in by hand. Torque to 22 lb-ft (30 Nm).

9. Add Oil

Remove the oil filler cap on the driver-side valve cover. Add 4.0 quarts of VW 508.00/504.00 0W-20. Start the engine — oil pressure light out within 5 seconds. Idle 90 seconds, shut off, wait 5 minutes. Check the dipstick and top up. Final fill is 4.5 quarts with filter.

10. Inspect and Reset

Check the filter housing cap and drain plug. Run 2 minutes and re-inspect.

Reset the service indicator: press and hold the 0.0 button on the left instrument cluster stalk with ignition ON. The display shows "Service 00%" — hold until it resets.

The VW 508.00/504.00 specification isn't marketing language. The EA211's chain-driven timing system and turbocharged valve train have tighter tolerances than typical Japanese or American-market engines. The low-SAPS requirement for the 508.00 spec reduces catalytic converter fouling and timing chain wear simultaneously.
