Step-by-Step Oil Change
1. Warm the Engine
I run the Sentra for about 5 minutes before starting. Warm oil drains faster and carries more junk out with it.
2. Raise the Front
Use ramps or a jack with stands. The Sentra sits low enough that comfortable access matters more than speed.
3. Open the Access Panel

6. Reinstall the Drain Plug
Fit a new 11026-01M02 washer, thread the plug in by hand, and torque it to 25 lb-ft (34 Nm).
7. Refill with Oil
I pour in 4.0 quarts first, start the engine, idle it for about a minute, then shut it off and wait 5 minutes. Check the dipstick and top off to full. Final fill is 4.4 quarts with filter.
8. Check for Leaks
Inspect the drain plug and filter with the engine running. Then do one final level check on level ground.
9. Reinstall the Panel and Reset the Reminder
Reinstall the undertray fasteners and reset the oil change reminder through the cluster or maintenance menu.
MR20DD Service Interval Notes
Nissan's 2.0L MR20DD is not a dramatic engine, and that's exactly why it lasts when you stay on schedule. For mostly highway driving, longer intervals can work. For short trips, stop-and-go commuting, or hot-weather use, I prefer the shorter side of the schedule. Clean 0W-20 keeps the variable valve timing system responsive and prevents the kind of varnish buildup that slowly makes a simple engine feel rough and lazy.
